OLMEC HEAD at CCSF
This spring, Atthowe Fine Art Services was thrilled to support the relocation of El Rey, a monumental replica of an Olmec head by artist Ignacio Perez Solano, gifted to City College of San Francisco in 2004 by the state of Veracruz, Mexico. Atthowe partnered with CCSF to ensure the safe movement of this iconic work to its new home outside the STEAM Building.
Working with precision and care, our team prepared the 12,000 pound sculpture - which was carved from volcanic tuff in 2004 - for seismic stability, relocation, placement at its new location.
We extend our gratitude to Will Maynez of CCSF for his dedicated advocacy in bringing this move to life, to Preservation Arts for their meticulous surface cleaning and stabilization, and to Sheedy for their skilled heavy-object transport.
We’re honored to be part of the long tradition of safeguarding public art—and to continue supporting the thoughtful stewardship of cultural works across the region.
